Jess Gingell, Public Works Supervisor
Jess Gingell started out on the farm and attending agricultural college before moving to Canada in 1982. In 1986 he moved to the Peace River Country engaging in the agriculture, logging, trucking, and oil field construction environments.
Jess began work for the Municipal District of Spirit River in 1996, moving to the public Works Supervisors position in 2005. It is a challenging, demanding job with lots of variety from hands labor to PR and paperwork.
The responsibilities at the Department of Public Works include repair and maintenance of the municipal road system including but not limited to snow plowing, grading, gravelling, culverts, signage and mowing.
The Department of Public Works employs six full-time and three seasonal staff members working with a variety of equipment including graders, trucks, hoes, loaders, packers, mowers, water tanker and trailers.
The work beat covers 360 miles of gravel road and 2 miles of pavement. The Municipal District has its own gravel pit and separate stock pile.
