Agricultural Service Board

The Agricultural Service Programs are under the direction of the Agricultural Service Board (ASB). The Board meets to review the programs, policies and to give the Agricultural Staff general direction. The Agriculture Service Board and Staff work under the following Acts of Alberta: Agriculture Service Board, Weed Control, Agricultural Pests, Soil Conservation and Environmental Protection Acts.

Family and Community Support Services

This committee oversees the many programs provided by the FCSS. FCSS is a partnership between the Province of Alberta, its Municipalities, and Métis Settlements, that develops locally driven preventive social initiatives to enhance the well being of individuals, families and communities.

Grande Spirit Foundation

Representing 12 municipalities and with almost 100 dedicated staff, the Grande Spirit Foundation (link opens in new window) provides reasonably priced housing, quality care and dignity to seniors and families in the Grande Prairie area.

Land Use Planning Steering Committee

This joint project includes three Municipalities (Town of Spirit River, Saddle Hills County and Municipal District of Spirit River No. 133). Together through ‘economies of scale’ these municipalities have applied for grant funds to assist with the costs of reviewing, updating, creating their Land Use Bylaws (LUB) and Municipal Development Plans (MDP). Each of these Municipalities has appointed a Steering Committee to assist with the planning/procedures/preparation of the Land Use Bylaw (LUB) and Municipal Development Plans (MDP) on behalf of their respective Municipality.

Peace Library System Board

The Peace Library System (link opens in new window) is comprised of 21 Municipalities, including the Municipal District of Spirit River No.133. The mission of the Peace Library System is to assist municipalities in meeting the information, educational and cultural needs of their residents in the most cost-effective and efficient way possible by the sharing of resources and expertise among public and school libraries.

Peace Region Economic Development Alliance

PREDA works together with stakeholders and industry to facilitate, support and promote regional economic development activities. PREDA gets the job done by ensuring their members make the right connections. One of the keys to attracting new investment and quality jobs is effective marketing of our communities’ assets. PREDA is communities’ and industry partnering to accomplish together what could not be done alone. The Executive Vice Chair for PREDA and appointed MD 133 Representative is Councilor Elaine Garrow.

South Peace Regional Archives

South Peace Regional Archives is located in the Grande Prairie Museum.

The purpose of the SPRA is to promote and encourage the appreciation and study of history in the Peace River District.

SPRA ‘S mandate is to acquire, preserve and make accessible to the public records of on-going value from individuals, families, businesses and organizations, which reflect the political, social and economic life of the south Peace River Country of Alberta.

Subdivision & Development Appeals Board

If an application for development or subdivision is denied, an application can be made to the court of appeal for permission to appeal on a question of law or jurisdiction within 30 days of the decision. Consult the Land Use Bylaw for more information on subdivision and development applications and appeals.
